[Dev] PostgreSQL

There was some interest expressed in running ZipTie on PostgreSQL, and in fact I have been running on PostgreSQL for several months. However, PostgreSQL is still not officially supported by ZipTie and it has undergone no testing other than on my personal machine. Which happens to be Mac OS X. ZipTie 2007.12 did not ship with database creation scripts for PostgreSQL because of too many cross-platform kinks and too little time.

But I've written up a wiki page on how to use PostgreSQL in your development environment, and I've even got it running under Windows. Linux should be so similar to Mac OS X that I skimped on those instructions for now. Anyway, here's the wiki page:

http://docs.ziptie.org/doku.php?id=dev:howto_postgresql

If somebody tries it and it works let me know, and if somebody tries it and it doesn't work, certainly let me know (or even better, correct the page yourself).

I anticipate that a subsequent patch release of 2007.12 or the next release of ZipTie (2007.12+) will include installer support and/or creation scripts for PostgreSQL.
